Flood Cut
« Back to Glossary Index
A flood cut is when workers remove the bottom part of water-damaged drywall (usually 12-24 inches above the floor) after a flood. This helps stop mold growth by getting rid of soaked material that can’t be dried properly.
Why it’s important:
- Removes wet drywall that could grow mold
- Lets workers check for hidden damage
- Helps the area dry faster
- Prevents future problems
Example: After the basement flooded, the team made flood cuts to take out all the damaged drywall before rebuilding.
